The first, general part, discusses the importance of soil as a natural resource for food production, harmful substances within the agroecosystem, the content and dynamics of heavy metals and pesticides in soil which affect the animate world, and problems of soil salinity. This part is concluded with a comprehensive review of methods of soil analysis for heavy metals and pesticides. A separate part presents the results of a study of chemical properties, provision with essential macroelements, the contents of heavy metals and pesticides, and salinization of the soils of the Vojvodina Province (Yugoslavia).
