The inheritance of high molecular weight glutenin subunits in wheat (Triticum aestivum) was analysed by using sodium dodecylsulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Plants having different glutenin alleles encoded by the Glu-A1, Glu-B1 and Glu-D1 loci were crossed and their F1 and F2 generations were examined. The results obtained showed that F1 seeds contained the high molecular weight glutenin subunits characteristic for both parents. In the F2 generation high molecular weight glutenin subunits segregated in accordance with control by a single gene with a dominant or codominant effect.
