By artificial infestation under field condition the quantity of mango leaf consumed by Cricula trifenestrata larvae was 1348.05 and 1298.79 cm square in terms of area, and 37.35 and 34.72 g in terms of weight during the entire larval period for generation I and II, respectively. There was no significant difference between the consumptions of 1st and 2nd instars, but these consumptions were significantly lower than the quantity consumed by 3rd, 4th and 5th instars. The leaf consumption by larvae of generation I and II was not significantly different. Only 3 to 4 percent of the total quantity was consumed by the first two and about 90% by the last two larval instars. The more active larvae of the 3rd to the last instars preferred younger leaves.
