Forecasting for potato late blight was tested in East- and West-Flanders, with respectively 9156 ha and 22956 ha under potatoes i.e. 55 per cent of the national area in potatoes. The method of Guntz-Divoux var. Libramont-Ath was used, based on relative humidity of the air and temperature, recorded by 5 weather stations. Date of treatments and optimal choice of fungicides were indicated, in a general advice for the whole territory. The results were positive, but a differentiation of advices is wanted for different regions, soil types, type of culture, landscape of the fields. For a limitation of the number of sprayings a more detailed advice, and therefore more observations are needed. The possibility for automation is therefore examined. The possibility for reduced doses of fungicides is to be tested in trials.
