Examination of over 3700 dogs has proven that 42 of all purebred dogs in Switzerland are affected with canine hip dysplasia (CHD), despite control programmes carried out during the last 30 years. The use of dysplastic animals for breeding, and a lack of progeny control are the main reasons for this poor progress
