Some retrovirus diseases of animals share many common features with retrovirus infections in humans. For instance, the bovine leukemia virus (BLV) and the caprine arthritis encephalitis virus (CAEV) are closely related to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the human T lymphotropic virus (HTLV).
