Tolp, S. | Teor, V. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia))
The data of one hundred cows in Raeni Experimental Unit were used to explain suitability of energy requirement standards in early lactation. The length of lactation period analyzed averaged 76 days. During this period the daily milk yield was 22,6 kg containing 4,11 fat. The cows lost 14 kg of their body weight. As compared with the All-Union standards, the cows consumed energy by 9,9 less. The most important differences were observed by the older cows, likewise by the high-productive cows. Thus, the difference was 3,4 on the occasion of milk yield under 20 kg daily and 19,6 in the daily milk yield exceeded 30 kg. As compared with our (i.e. Department of Animal Nutrition of Estonian Agricultural Academy) standards, the differences between the actual amounts of energy consumed and the amounts calculated by standards were smaller, in average 4,4.
