Study of the effect of the yield component on grain yield of wheat cultivars
1994
Sanjari, A.
In order to detect yielding varieties of wheat and to determine the effects of yield components on grain yield of this crop, 20 advanced cultivars were studied using a randomized Complete Block Design with four replications for three years starting 1990. During the growing season, all the agronomic cares were taken and serveral important characters such as heading and maturing dates, frost damage, plant height, loading and shattering rates, seed characteristics and harvest index were measured and determined. Simple ANOVA was done on the results of each individual year for some characters including grain and biological yields, plant height and harvest index. The results of the three year for the mentioned characters were analyzed by combined ANOVA. A correlation analysis was also done to determine the role and importance of the yield components and their relations to each other. The results showed that cultivars No.11, with a 5.2 ton/ha of grain and 11.7 ton/ha of biological yield and 45 harvest index was detected as the most cultivar for Zanjan area. It was also found that the grain yield had positive significant correlation with biological yield, 1000 kernel weight and number of seeds per unit area. It showed no significant correlation with plant height and harvest index.
