1990
Adeniji, H.A. (National Institute for Freshwater Fisheries Research, New Bussa (Nigeria))
Study on the limnology and biological production in the pelagic zone of Jebba Lake, Nigeria showed some seasonal variations in the physio-chemical and biological characteristics of the lake. Pelagic primary production was generally higher near the water surface. The mean fish yield ranged from 2,372.49 to 16,372.61 metric tons per annum. Results obtained from experimental fish catch and fish catch assessment surveys showed 2,901 to 13,291 and 1,007 to 4,612 metric tons/annum respectively on the lake which were within the fish yield estimates from the pelagic production. Recommendations were made for improvement and management of environmental water quality and productivity of the lake
