Five potato strains grown under Sialkot condition viz: Desiree x Hydra P13, Cardinal x Desiree P3, K. Sinduri x Multa P16, No. 70 x No. 86 P16 and a double cross (Desiree x Josa P50) x (ACK x USA 5) P5 were studied for their quality characteristics for potato chips during the year 1993 and 1994. The dry matter content, specific qravity, were recorded after harvesting. Strain namely K. Sinduri x Multa P16 stood first with respect to specific gravity and dry matter content followed by No. 70 x No 86 P16 in both the study years. After dormancy period and stabilization of the computational levels of potatoes, the chips were prepared. Data regarding chip yield, frying time and oil content of chips were recorded. Over all, it was concluded that K. Sinduri x Multa P16 stood first in all parameters, Cardinal x Desiree P3 showed poorest results
