Values as cultural determinants of interpersonal communication behavior among the Hanunoo-Mangyans: an ethnocommunication approach [Philippines]
1994
Afagbegee, G.L.
Findings indicate that: a.) the values of the Hanunoo-Mangyans function as criteria for the selection on their modes of conduct; b.) they have their own patterns of interpersonal communication behavior (which are modes of conduct); c.) their interpersonal communication behavior are determined, influenced or affected by their values; d.) their values seemingly are not neutral nor are they all-benevolent, as some of the values seem to be biased towards certain members of the society thus, giving them advantages over other members; and e.) they seem to experience some covert tensions/conflicts in some of their interpersonal communication among themselves and also with some outsiders as a result of the nature and content of their values
