The usefulness of plant tests: algae, mustard, buckwheat, maize, cucumber, salvinia and duckweed was analysed in the laboratory conditions in order to designate the residue of herbicides in water. 4 herbicides were tested: Casaron, Fusilade, Glean, Roundup. The test of salvinia enabled to detect the presence of Glean in the concentration of 0.05 microgram/cu. dm (active substance), Casaron - 30 microgram/cu. dm, Fusilade - 0.5 microgram/cu. dm, Roundup - 0.75 microgram/cu. Duckweed showed the approximate sensitiveness. The 2 tests can be recommended to be applied in the examination of the residue of the tested herbicides. Moreover the use of algae test to identify Fusilade herbicide as well as root tests of maize to designate Glean, cucumber to designate Casoron and mustard to designate Roundup, are suggested
