The results of the third warmer areas wheat screening nursery (WAWSN) 1989-90

Inglés. The third WAWSN included 113 advanced lines and varieties, carry resistance to Helminthosporium sativum measured at Poza Rica, Mexico. Some of these lines may show different reactions to H. sativum at other locations. Resistance to this disease, combined with tolerance to high temperature, is needed to facilitate the adaptation of wheat in the nontraditional warm areas. Hopefully, some of the germplasm described here will be useful to cooperators In the warmer regions. 23 cooperators from 16 countries returned field books with performance data from their locations in time to be included in this report. The choice of variables measured rested with the individual cooperator. We have included in this summary selected variables. The number of sites differs from variable to variable. The reader is urged to note the number of sites at the head of each variable column. The reader should also bear in mind that the yield reported is from a small unbordered area, grown for observation rather than as a rigorous, replicated yield trial

Algunas pueden mostrar reacciones a H. sativum totalmente distintas en otras localidades. Se requiere combinar la resistencia a esta enfermedad con la tolerancia a altas temperaturas para facilitar la adaptacion del trigo a zonas calidas donde normalmente no se le cultiva. Se espera que el germoplasma cuyos datos se presentan en este informe sea de utilidad para nuestros cooperadores que viven en regiones calidas. 23 colaboradores de 16 paises devolvieron los libros de campo con datos sobre el comportamiento de las lineas en sus localidades a tiempo para incluirse en este informe. La eleccion de las variables evaluadas depende de cada colaborador. En este informe hemos incluido las variables mas importantes.
