[Creation and studies of initial material for breeding silage corn hybrids with low lignine content]
1992
Taova, L.A. | Egorova, Eh.A.
Corn lines with low lignine content have been created with the use of bm 3 mutation. A biochemical study of ordinary analogues and those with low lignine content showed, as influence by the genotype, reduction of lignine level, which amounts to 13,8 to 33,4% due to the bmsub(3) gene action. Lignine content increases by the stage of milky-wax ripeness of the grain. In all the stages the forms with brown rib contain less lignine than the ordinary forms.
