1994
Vojtic, I. | Vengust, M. (Republiska veterinarska uprava, Ljubljana (Slovenia))
During performance testing yearling Simmental bulls (n=39) were monitored for growth rate and biochemical parameters of energy, protein and mineral metabolism. Average body weight of bulls was 486 kg with daily average gain 1141 g. Daily dietary intake was 11.4 kg of dry matter, 6580 starch units and 1060 g of digestible crude proteins. Average values of biochemical plasma parameters in bulls with body weight above or below 486 kg were not differed significantly. The bulls that gained more than 1141 g had significantly lower concentration of total plasma proteins (61 g/L : 64 g/L; P0.05) and lower variability of plasma alkaline phosphatases (30 % : 41 %; P0.05)
