In 1991 we determined with the dispensarization method the metabolic profile (MP) of 60 cows from 12 farms within the Radlje on Drava area. We established hematological (E, Hb, PCV, MCV, L differential white cell picture) and biochemical values (Ca, aP, iP, Mg, Na, K, Total Protein, Urea, AST, Bilirubin and carotene) in 120 blood samples. We carried out the analyses of milk for ketone bodies and parasitologic examinations. The results are statistically elaborated and shown in tables. We have established that inadequate supply with forage often caused anemia and hypoproteinemia. Due to summer drought which has effected the area under examination, the basic fodder (hay, hay silage, corn silage) was poor in quality and quantity. The above mentioned disadvantage is partly already felt in less favorable autumn MP of dairy cows. Therefore the authors recommend a better provision of dairy cows with proteins and energy
