First thinnings in spruce stands with initial effect of air pollution
1993
Kamensky, M. (Lesnicky Vyskumny Ustav, Zvolen (Slovak Republic))
The assessment of the effect of different thinning methods on the state of spruce stand in the conditions of initial effect of immissions is presented. The greatest absolute number of the trees with the symptoms of immission damage was found on the control plot without tending, the greatest share of damaged trees of total number of the trees per plot was observed on the plot where also schematic selection of the trees was used. Relatively small share of mechanically damaged trees due to skidding was observed. Volume increment of the stand is dependant on used thinning method, and it corresponds with the number of the trees removed from the stand during the 1st thinning.
