Purpose of this study was to determine an appropriate technology for maize production. The study was conducted in Khantharalak and Khun Han Districts, Sisaket Province. The soil in the area was categorized as red-clay soil group, Chok Chai Series. The data of this study were collected four times in March of every year from 1986 to 1989 by interviewing farmers. It also conducted three experiments from 1986 to 1988, level experiment, verification experiment, and demonstration trial, each experiment in each year respectively. According to farmer interviews, most of farmers were literate, source of knowledge in corn production was extension workers, hiring additional farm labors was high because of lack of family labor, using fertilizer was high, in otherwise hybrid variety use was low. From experimental results of level experiment by comparing 12 varieties, ten fertilizer formulas, seven methods of fertilizer application, and six methods of weed control; indicated that yields of hybrid varieties were higher than suwan 1 Variety, fertilizer formulas affected corn yields significantly, but no significant differences in methods of fertilizer application and weed control. In comparison of Suwan 1 Variety and hybrid varieties by applying fertilizer rated 6 kgs. of N per rai and none showed that hybrid varieties with use of fertilizer cause higher yield and made more benefit.
