Seeds of 22 groundnut cultivars from breeding programs of Kasetsart and Khon Kaen Universities were analyzed for protein and oil contents using a micro-Kjeldahl method and Soxhlet procedure. Only sound mature Kernels which could pass through 16/64" x 3/4" screen were used in the study. Protein contents of 22.32-29.20 % and oil contents of 45.44-53.17 % were found in the seeds of different cultivars analyzed. Among these, 5 cultivars appeared to have a protein content of higher than 28 % including the check Tainan 9. Most of the large seed groundnuts from Khon Kaen breeding program had a higher oil content than those from the Kasetsart program.
