Concentration of nitrogen in soya bean, peanut, mung bean, black bean and red bean were determined using fast neutron activation analysis via the nuclear reaction 14 N (n, 2n)13 N. Beans were blended into grain size of 200-300 meshes, pressed with 8 tons/inches 2 pressure. Samples were irradiated with 14 MeV neutron from the AID J-25 neutron generator. Gamma radiations were detected with HP-Ge spectrometer. Soya bean has been observed, high nitrogen content up to 5.8 percent by weight whereas peanut and mung bean have 4.3 and 3.6 percent nitrogen content respectively. Black bean and red bean have about the same amount of 3.2 percent nitrogen content. The precision of this method has been estimated to be within 4 percent.
