Effects of foliar fertilizer and cytokinin on yield and physiological maturity of soybean (Glycine max (L). Merrill)

Foliar fertilizer and foliar plant growth regulator might increase leaf photosynthesis and leaf dry matter accumulation in soybean variety S.J.5 in reproductive stage. The experiment was conducted at Bangpra Faculty of Agriculture during January to April 1986. Three levels of foliar fertilizer (planofix) (0, 0.01 and 0.02 %) and three levels of kinetin (0, 5 and 10 ppm) were arranged in factorial combinations. Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications was used in this experiment. Foliar fertilizer and kinetin were applied at three stages of growth, R4, R5, and R6 (39, 47 and 55 days after emergence). Seed dry weight, germination percentage, seedling vigor and yield did not show significant differences. The reason might be due to variation of environment that could not be controlled during growth stage. The physiological maturity (PM) of S.J.5 reached at 107 days after emergence. But PM changed with seasons, PM could be observed from the pod color. All pods of the plant were free from green color, the soybean reached PM.
