Quantitative analysis of prussic acid (hydrocyanic acid) of 5 sweet sorghum cultivars indicated that the acid contents in Rio, Roma, and Rammada were 13.5, 6.07 and 5.13 ppm respectively. Keller and Wray contained non-detectable amount of prussic acid. In Rio, the content of prussic acid was detected in greater amount in the upper stem than the middle portion, and the lower portion contained the least amount. The acid content in sweet sorghum decreased with plant age.
