This describes production characteristics of the traditional (cattle) herd in Tabora region of western Tanzania. Benefit cost analysis (BCA) method is used to evaluate the economic potential of the traditional cattle sector at different level of production. Milk constitutes the largest part of cattle productivity but oxen power and cattle manure are also important outputs
