In this paper the attention is paid to the study of the rate of photosynthesis and dark respiration, as physiological processes which affect plant production to a great extent. Different genotypes of wheat were taken as experimental objects. The plant were cultivated under greenhouse conditions by using the water culture method. Nutrient solution contained three different levels of mineral nutrients. Significant differences were found between the individual cultivars in net photosynthesis and respiration rates under given experimental conditions. Regardless of cultivars, photosynthetic activity, on the average increased as the concentration of nutrients in solution increased. The respiration rate varied mostly not depending on the concentration of nutrients in solution
