Nutritional value of "Pikos" [raw bone meal] in laying hens feeding

It was found that "Pikos" (raw bone meal) contained: 95.29 dry matter, 4.71 water, 61.51 ash, 23.35 proteins, 7.80 fat and 2.63 non nitrogens extractive matters. Amount of harmful minerals was in allowed limits. Aminoacid content of "Pikos" was similar of that in corn, but with more lysine, methionine, threonine, valine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, and histidine. Adding 2.9 of "Pikos" to laying hens feeding instead of calcium carbonate and 1.4 dicalcium phosphate, influenced significantly increase of wet egg shell weight. Obtained results pointed out that "Pikos" is convenient feed for laying hens and that it can substitute dicalcium phosphate in animal feeds.
