1995
Kasesalu, J. (Estonian Agricultural University, Tartu (Estonia))
The cysts of Dermocystidium have been found on the gills of wintering fingerlings of common carp in Estonia during more than 10 years already. Among the investigated fishes 13,5 per cent on the average (range 0,5-33,6 per cent) were infected by Dermocystidium. No pathological changes of gills were discovered. In March of 1994 there was a mass invasion of Dermocystidium in Fish Farm of Haaslava. 70-80 round cysts were found on the gills of each investigated fish. In spring the losses of fish were 97 per cent. Dermocystidiosis of rainbow trout causes death of about 80 spawners in spring of 1991. These were the first outbreaks of dermocystidiosis in Estonia
