The number of somatic cells per 1 cm** (3) cattle milk was determined on 4424 cows from 8 farms. The health of udder was estimated as well. The health of udder of 2512 cows was good or very good according to the number of somatic cells in 4424 analysed milk tests. Mastitis according to the number of somatic cells could be expected in 470 cows. Electric conductivity of milk in udder quartes was compared with mastitis indicators EA-04 and MI-1A. The results of electric conductivity were negatively correlated to the number of somatic cells. The coincidence of negative results with EA-04 data was 90.4 % and with MI-1A data 76.5 %. Agreement with respective positive results of somatic cell number was 45.7 % with EA-04 data and 63.0 % with MI-1A data. Considering the number of somatic cells exceeding the level 1 million per 1 cm** (3) milk the inflammation could be expected more frequently in the second and third quartes 61.6 and 50.9 % accordingly. The inflammation was less in the first and fourth quarters
