The objective of the present study was to determine the influence of the morphological quality of day 7 cow embryos on the recipients pregnancy rate after transfer in order to improve the criteria of embryo selection. For that purpose, 1802 ova were isolated from 204 clinically healthy donor cows and their quality was evaluated according to the morphological status using international standards. Each embryo was described separately in order to establish the most frequent morphological changes and to evaluate their influence on the embryo viability. 715 fresh class I, II or III embryos were transferred to 715 heifers, who were examined for pregnancy 45-60 days after transfer
