Screening barley [Hordeum vulgare] genetic resources for high whiteness of pearled grain using a small quantity pearling method
1995
Doi, Y. (Kyushu National Agricultural Experiment Station, Chikugo, Fukuoka (Japan)) | Tohnooka, T.
A pearling method for small quantities using a small pearling machine (Kett Inc. Parrest) and color meter (Minolta Co. Ltd. CR-200) was established for screening barley genetic resources for high whiteness of pearled grain. This method was used to measure whiteness of grains pearled to 55% in weight in 1089 cultivars. Ninety-seven cultivars were selected as high whiteness genetic resources. These cultivars will be available as the crossing parent in non-malting barley breeding in Japan
