Three tillage intensities (zero tillage, minimum tillage and conventional method) and four fertilizer levels (50-00, 100-50, 100-100 and 150-100 kg NP/ha) including control were studied during 1985-86 and 1986-87. The mean result showed that yield increased with increase in fertilizer rate under all tillage treatments. The yield difference due to tillage tended to disappear at a fertilizer rate of 150-100 kg NP per hectare. Maximum grain yield (4524 kg) was given by minimum tillage with 150-100 kg NP followed by conventional method and zero tillage which gave 4496 and 4467 kg grain per hectare, respectively. The yield differences due to tillage fertilizer levels were non-significant. Fertilizer rate of 150-100 kg NP per hectare outyielded the other fertilizer levels significantly by yielding 4496 kg grain per hectare. The fertilizer rates 100-100 kg NP also gave similar yields. The other fertilizer rates gave significantly lower yield.
