New views on the toxicity of various aluminium forms

The latest literature on the toxicity of various aluminium forms is reviewed. Special attention is given to identify the rhizotoxic Al species in soluble culture, to the ameliorative effect of the other cations and to new indices of Al toxicity. For the present, it may be reasonable to conclude that Al sub (13) and Al exp (3+) are rhizotoxic. Mononuclear hydroxy-Al appears to be rhizotoxic to dicotyledonous plants, but that toxicity may be attributable to Al exp (3+) or Al sub (13)
