Accumulation of some heavy metals in arable soils and in celery leaves in the proximity of Warsaw's exit roads

Top soil (0-20 cm) of arable grounds situated close to busy traffic Warsaw's exit roads was examinated. Sampling sities (for soil and celery leaves) were located at the distance 7, 30 and 50 m from the road curb. Arable soils located to the exit roads have been contaminated by zinc within 50 m. The content of Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb and Cd in celery leaves decreased with the distance from the road. Leafy vegetables should not be cultivated within the 30 m wide strip along the highways
