Performance of winter wheat cultivars Alba and Almari in continuous cropping
1995
Kostrzewska, M.K. (University of Agriculture and Technology, Olsztyn (Poland). Dept. of Soil and Crop Management)
The aim of this work was testing of the factors (soil quality, weather conditions, application of fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides as well as choice of cultivars) weakening the susceptibility of winter wheat to continuous cultivation. It was stated that a good position of winter wheat cultivars in crop rotation allows to obtain high yields of grain. Crop rotation was found to fully protect the crop from weed pressure. Cultivars Alba and Almari grown in crop rotation produced similar yields; however, cultivar Alba appeared more susceptible to growing in a monoculture
