Effects of exogenous DNA action in tomato. 2. Genetic variability
1995
The increase in genetic variability in an interspecific tomato hybrid of Lycopersicon esculentum and Solanum pennellii in response to the action of exogenous DNA is considered. Hybrid F1 genotypes with tomatoes of contrasting colors and weights were obtained. Segregation into bush shape and size, sterility, ovary formation, and color and weight was obtained in the self-fertilized F2 populations studied. Along with the usual recombinant forms, new transgressive and unusual forms, which are not typical for either parent, were identified in the hybrid progeny obtained
