Manyatsi, A.M. | Sishwashwa, M.S.
This paper describes the use of aerial photo interpretation to establish preliminary land capability and soil erosion classification. A field survey was carried out to obtain information on soils, soil erosion and general land degradation. Land capability classification for the area was carried out. The relationship between land capability classification and land use patterns, occurrance of soil erosion and land management was established. It was found that soil erosion was mainly due to poor management practices, which include poor crop management and range management. Particular causes were found to be intensive over grazing and poor conservation in relation to the existing state of soil erosion.
