Species composition and quantitative study on periphyton in Nong Han, Changwat Sakon Nakhon
1990
Sukane Boonpirote
Species and quantitative compositions of the periphytons in Nong Han were studied from January-November, 1980. The periphyton and water samples were collected every two months period from 14 stations which distributed throughout the study area. The chemical and physical properties of water indicated good quality suitable for normal growth of aquatic faunas. There were 54 species of periphytons composing of 3 annelids, 7 molluscs, 28 arthropods and 16 chordates. The most abundant periphyton was Macrobrachium lanchesteri. The year round, average number per square metre of the periphytons was 40 and demonstrated a higher number in the dry season than the wet season. Comparative periphytons on 5 species of aquatic plants include: Eichhornia crassipes, Potamogeton malainus, Najas graminea, Hydrilla verticillata, Blyxa echinosperma indicated highest number of species and biomass in Eichhornia crassipes.
