Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) meal as a partial substitute for maize in layers ration
1993
Agwunobi, L.A. (Federal College of Agriculture, Umuahia (Nigeria). National Root Crops Institute)
One hundred point-of-lay birds were randomly allotted into five groups of 20 birds each and fed on five testing diets containing 0 %, 15 %, 30 %, 45 %, and 60 % sweet potato meal as a replacement for maize. Egg production, egg weight, and feed efficiency were significantly (P 0.05) affected at 60 % substitution. The result indicates that peeled sweet potato meal can replace 75 % of maize or constitute 45 % of laying diet without adverse effect on layers' performance.
