Preliminary studies conducted at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus on the propagation of breadfruit Cv. "Yellow Heart" by root cuttings and stem cuttings are described. The effects of thickness (age) of the cuttings and planting position were examined in root cuttings and both factors were shown to influence shoot production significantly. The influence of leafiness, age of the cutting, growth regulators and waxing on rooting in stem cuttings was evaluated in three experiments. The waxed cuttings of two-year old wood gave the best performance.
