The boar breeding values were estimated by Least Squares (LS), Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) and Probit (P) methods. The models used included year, season of birth, age or body weight at the end of the test and sires as sources of variation. Investigations included body weight, lifetime daily gain and average backfat thickness of daughters. The effects of sires, seasons and age at the end of the test were highly significant for all the traits of gilts (herd A). The sires, years, seasons and age influenced the body weight, lifetime daily gain and average backfat thickness of daughters (herd B). The correlations between Least Squares and BLUP estimates were full. Rank correlations between Least Squares and Probit methods of breeding values estimation were 0.533 (herd A) and 0.465 (herd B), while the correlation between Least Squares and P1 (modification of Probit) was 0.609.
