Influence of edaphic factors on heavy metal content in oriental tobaccos

Content of heavy metals in higher in tobacco of the Prilep type from the Bitolj production area (Macedonia, Former Yugoslav Republic) than in samples from the Vladicin Han production area (F.R. Yugoslavia). This applies to Fe, Pb, Cd, and Cr while Ni content is higher in samples from Vladicin Han. Fe content in tobacco from the Bitolj area is 35 higher than in samples from Vladicin Han, Pb content is 21 higher, Cd content 113, higher and Cr content 900 higher. Only Ni content is 109 higher in tobacco samples from the Vladicin Han area. As for the Jaka commercial type of tobacco, greater heavy metal content is recorded in samples from the Bujanovac production area (F.R. Yugoslavia) than in ones from Radovis (Macedonia, Former Yugoslav Republic). Only Cd content is higher (67) in samples from the Radovis area than in samples from the Bujanovac area.
