Addition of nitrogen in any of investigated stages (tillering, jointing, heading or flowering) influenced positively the yield of dry matter of above-ground part and grain, number and mass of 1000 kernels and grain harvest index. The productive tillering was established only by addition of nitrogen in tillering and at beginning of jointing, and it increased with nitrogen rate increase. By addition of nitrogen at heading and flowering the maximal grain yield and kernels number were obtained at the initial nitrogen rate, and at addition at tillering and jointing with the next higher rate. The yields of above-ground dry matter and grain and kernel number increased more at application of nitrogen at tillering and jointing than later on.
