Processing quality of the sugar beet as a function of the beet head cutting position

A three year survey of the sugar beet processing quality as a function of the beet head cutting position, in three agricultural areas, revealed the best sugar beet quality in the district around the Sugar Factory at Zabalj, precisely at Gospodjinci (Yugoslavia). Among the strains under scrutiny, the type Nr. 5 showed the very best processing quality. Meanwhile the type Nr. 1 was at the lowest grade. The assessed differences in some properties, based on average three year results from three areas, among the kinds under investigation, amounted to 9.63 for the sugar content; 14.27 for the sugar yield related to raw beet; and to 2.40 for the purity quotient of the thick juice.
