An investigation was conducted on the two monogerm cultivars of sugar beet which differed in origin and quantitative characteristics. The in vitro cultured calli of the two cultivars differed in the concentration of mineral elements under the same conditions of mineral nutrition. The differences in the concentration of N, P, K, Zn and Fe were significant, whereas differences in the concentration of Ca, Mg and Mn were insignificant. Calli obtained from different leaf explants of the same cultivar differed in the concentration of the elements studied. Correlations were established between the fresh and dry mass of the explants, but not between dry mass and concentration of the elements determined.
