A new perennial forage crop fodder galega (Galega orientalis Lam.) is presented. This plant originates from the regions of Caucasus and grows well in Estonia. It is a potential forage legume for temperate conditions and northern areas. Fodder galega is very persistent with a high yielding ability. The most important characteristic is that it gives a stable seed yield in regions where it is not possible to obtain a good seed yield from lucerne. The botanical characteristics, utilization, seed characteristics and production, and seed germination test method are reported here
