An investigation on seed germination of Indian Butter Tree Aisandra butyracea

Variability in germination, viability, and retension of viability as affected by fruit maturity and presowing treatments was studied for four populations of Aisandra butyracea (Roxb.) Baehni (Family Sapotaceae). Seeds from fully ripened fruits that had been washed and soaked for 24 hours before sowing germinated significantly better compared to control samples. Seeds lost their viability within 2 to 3 weeks, so sowing immediately after collection is recommended
