The results of pot and field experiments showed that the combining application of NP fertilizers and phosphorus gypsum (1500-3000 kg per hectare) could increase the level of available calcium, sulphur, phosphorus and other nutrients in soils, improve the uptake of calcium by the crops and promote the growth of the crops, hence increasing their yields. The yields of cabbage, tomato, celery and Chinese cabbage was increased by 10.8-13.1, 9.6-10.8, 9.2-10.4 and 9.8 respectively. In addition, the application of phosphorus gypsum could improve vegetables' quality meanwhile had no bad effect on the major chemicophysical properties of soils
