The paper outlines characteristic changes in blood count of breeder cocks occurring during the course of sexual maturation. A significant increase was observed in total erythrocyte counts, haemoglobin and haematocrit value. The conclusions of the study assessing the growth of cocks suggested that the growth rate was highest between 18 and 20 weeks of age. Part of the study was an investigation into gonad development. The growth rate in gonad development in cocks reached its maximum form 15 to 20 weeks of age. Of significance were also the result of the correlation analysis revealing a close relationship between gonad development, haematocrit value and haemaglobin during the sexual maturation of cocks. Similarly, in breeder cocks used for reproduction significant relationship were obtained between cocks exhibiting high or low haemoglobin levels in erythrocyte counts related to sperm concentrations in ejaculates.
