Natural pasture was harvested every month for two consecutive years to measure dry matter production and chemical composition. The analyses are given with an estimate of voluntary intake of energy and protein, which suggest that natural pasture would be adequate for liveweight maintenance and weight gain during wet seasons and would not support maintenance for the rest of the year. Animal production may be improved by integrating pasture with other forages and exercising management options to overcome deficiencies. The agro-industrial by-products produced in the country have also potential to augment the deficiencies during dry periods.
