The experiment was conducted at the farmer's field of Kinali (Pasaman) from September 1991 to March 1992, to evaluate eleven lines of corn and three varieties (Arjuna, Kalingga, dan CI hybrid) as the control. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Plot size was 5 x 3 m, planting space 75 x 50 cm, and 3 seeds per hill. Fertilizer rates were 300 kg Urea, 200 kg TSP, and 100 kg KCl per hectare. Result of this experiment showed that the yield of all populations ranged between 5.70 to 8.40 t/ha. The highest yield (8.40 t/ha) was achieved by CI hybrid and the lowest yield (5.70 t/ha) by line BR 201. The yields of St Al89-DHP-122 and C88 SA3 T Across were higher than Kalingga and Arjuna varieties. All of corn promising lines had been infected by Sclerospora maydis (downy mildew)
