Zafran | Boer, D.R. (Sub Balai Penelitian Perikanan Budidaya Pantai Gondol, Bali (Indonesia))
One isolate of fungus was obtained from postlarvae of the tiger prawn collected from the Research Station for Coastal Aquaculture, Gondol, Bali. The fungus was isolated by inoculating of prawn in PYGS broth at 25 deg C. Pure culture were obtained by transfering the colonies onto PYGS agar. For the observation of spore discharge, fragments of vegetative hyphae were placed in a petridish containing sterilized sea water. The result showed that zoospores formed within the fragment were liberated through the orifice of discharge tube. The fungus was identified as Haliphthoros sp.
